Spurs expect to sell 27-year-old for ‘a reasonable fee’ this summer – Alasdair Gold

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has become the latest journalist to suggest that Tottenham Hotspur will cash in on Sergio Reguilon this summer and look to reinvest the funds into the squad.

Reguilon has done quite well since his loan move to Brentford in January and has shown that he is more than a competent left-back when he is fully fit.

However, it was reported by The Athletic last week that even though Thomas Frank and the Brentford hierarchy have been impressed by the Spaniard, they are unlikely to make a permanent move for him.

This is because Reguilon’s wage demands and Tottenham’s asking price for the player are expected to be excessive for the West London club, particularly with their first-choice left-back Rico Henry expected to be fit for the start of pre-season.

The outlet added that the former Real Madrid man is expected to search for a new club this summer as he does not have a future at Spurs.

Spurs expect Reguilon to fetch a decent price

Gold has now reported something similar, revealing that Reguilon is not part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans.

He points out that with the Spain international having just a year left on his contract, his four-year stay at Hotspur Way is expected to come to an end this summer.

The journalist adds that given the full-back’s showing at the Gtech Community Stadium, the player could ‘bring in a reasonable fee’ this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Reguilon will not just be of interest to Spanish clubs this summer but a few Premier League sides will also come knocking on the door for the left-back, given his performances for Man Utd and Brentford this season. Tottenham would be hoping to make around £15m-£20m from his sale this summer.
