Report: Spurs could battle Arsenal for 22-year-old Premier League star

HITC have claimed that Tottenham and Arsenal are among the clubs eyeing a summer move for Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo.

Danilo has had an exceptional debut season in the Premier League since joining Forest from Palmeiras last summer and the youngster is now being backed to join one of the big hitters in the English top flight just a year on from his move to the City Ground.

The report says that Tottenham are admirers of the 22-year-old and following their acquisition of Brennan Johnson last summer, could decide to raid Forest again for the Brazilian.

Spurs face competition from Arsenal for Danilo

However, HITC reveal that the Lilywhites could face some tough competition from their North London rivals, Arsenal, who are also said to be fans of Danilo.

In fact, it is explained that the Gunners actually explored a deal for the midfielder last summer but ultimately lost out to Forest and that they have kept an eye on the player’s progress over the last 12 months.

In addition, the publication adds that Manchester United are eyeing Danilo as a potential replacement for Casemiro while Newcastle are also thought to be watching the former Palmeiras star closely.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that signing a top-class number six to replace Hojbjerg and Skipp would be one of Tottenham’s priorities this summer. However, it is anyone’s guess at the moment who Spurs’ top target would be, with the Lilywhites continuing to be linked with a whole host of midfielders across Europe.
