Exclusive: Stephen Carr says there is only one way Spurs can replace Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur are yet to sign a direct replacement for Harry Kane, but Stephen Carr believes that is a near-impossible task. Speaking exclusively to The Spurs Web, the former Lilywhites man explains what the club need to do to fill the void left behind by Kane.

It was the biggest transfer of last summer, and one that rocked the world of Tottenham fans, as Harry Kane left the club to join Bayern Munich.

After becoming the club’s all-time top goalscorer and being the man Spurs could rely on for so many years, Kane decided to move on in search of silverware. Whether that trophy comes this year remains to be seen, but Kane has done his part with 37 goals in all competitions for Bayern (Transfermarkt).

Meanwhile, Spurs have relied on the likes of Heung-min Son and Richarlison to contribute goals this year, with the North London side having not signed a like-for-like replacement for Kane yet.

How can Spurs replace Harry Kane?

Stephen Carr spoke exclusively to The Spurs Web, thanks to BoyleSports who offer the latest Premier League odds. We asked Carr about the impending summer transfer market, and how Spurs could try to replace Kane.

He said: “Tottenham need to learn to live without Harry Kane. He’s an unbelievable goalscorer and I don’t think he can be replaced, just look what he is doing at Bayern Munich.

“You need to find a gem that can come in and replace some of the goals because any club in the world would miss Harry Kane, it would be like taking Erling Haaland away from City after he helped them to the Treble last year.

“I don’t think you can replace these sort of players so you need more depth.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Obviously, Kane is irreplaceable. And yes, Richarlison has done well in the number 9 role, but, we definitely need to sign a striker this summer. We’ve got the money and the pulling power to attract some of the very best in the world, and we should make it count in that position.
