Report: Brentford make Ivan Toney stance clear after Spurs and Man Utd approaches

GiveMeSport have revealed that Brentford have no intention of lowering their demands for Ivan Toney after approaches from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

Tottenham and Man United both keen on Ivan Toney

On Monday, Football Insider reported that Bees are demanding a fee of around £50m-£60m for Toney even though the striker has just a year left on his contract.

The report added that Spurs, West Ham and Man Utd had all expressed an interest in the 28-year-old, with the Lilywhites described as ‘particularly big admirers’ of the England international.

The outlet suggested, however, that Ange Postecoglou’s men had no intention of meeting Brentford’s asking price and would only make a move for the centre-forward if the West London club lowered their demands.

Spurs and Man United only want to spend £40m

GiveMeSport have now also said both Spurs and Man Utd are only prepared to spend £40m on Toney at the moment.

However, Thomas Frank’s men have allegedly informed the Red Devils and the Lilywhites that they will not lower their asking price and that the England international would only be sold for £60m.

It remains to be seen who will blink first in this stand off.

I can see Tottenham now walking away from this deal and prioritising other strikers.

Perhaps the North London club may re-enter the race later in the summer if and when the Bees decide to lower their asking price.
