Report: Conor Gallagher has a plan for Euro 2024, but Tottenham might not like it

Despite Chelsea reportedly being keen to sell Conor Gallagher this summer, it is thought the player himself wants to stay at the club, and is hoping he can shine at Euro 2024 to persuade the Blues to keep him.

Tottenham links with Conor Gallagher are going nowhere

Tottenham have been linked with Gallagher for the best part of a year now, and with the midfielder entering the final year of his current contract, there are major doubts over where his future lies.

Chelsea are eager to raise funds to stay on the right side of Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR), and selling Gallagher would go a long way to achieving that as any fee would be pure profit given the midfielder is an academy graduate at the club.

However, the 24-year-old is known to want a new contract and is reluctant to leave his boyhood club, and is determined not to be forced into a transfer this summer (Football Insider).

Both Aston Villa and Spurs are interested in Gallagher, but it has already been suggested that he would turn down a move (Football Insider).

Euro 2024 could be key to Gallagher’s future

Now, the latest from Standard Sport corroborates this idea, and claims Gallagher is looking to make his mark on the international stage this summer so that Chelsea drop the idea of selling him.

It is said Gallagher will be “difficult to prise away” from Chelsea despite interest from other clubs, and the Blues making it relatively clear they are “ready to sell” him.

However, after an impressive display for England against Serbia on Sunday, Gallagher is now believed to be of the opinion that his performances in Germany this summer could “have a positive impact on how he is viewed at Chelsea.”

I really don’t think Chelsea will sell Gallagher. I think they have enough peripheral players they can move on to raise enough money to satisfy PSR, and then they’ll invest in a new contract for Gallagher to keep him there long-term.
