Tottenham are looking at Murillo from Nottingham Forest

Tottenham have been linked with a number of centre-backs over the past couple of months, with Murillo rumoured to be one of the names on their radar.

The 21-year-old has had an exceptional debut Premier League season since his move to the City Ground last summer and it was reported by Football Insider at the start of last week that the Lilywhites are looking to take advantage of Forest’s PSR situation to land the player.

Tottenham’s interest in the centre-back was backed up by Football.London’s Alasdair Gold on Monday, with the journalist explaining that the fact that the youngster is left-footed makes him an attractive option for Ange Postegolou’s side.

Murillo is expected to be on the move this summer

The Athletic have now said that the expectation at Forest is that Murillo will be sold this summer, just a year on from his arrival from Corinthians.

The report discusses how Nuno Espirito Santo’s men would have to offset their losses before the end of June and points out that the young centre-back is in demand.

Interestingly, the publication adds that despite signing Murillo for just £11m, he is now ‘worth six times’ that figure, which suggests that Forest value the defender at a whopping £66m.

Given the new financial landscape that the clubs are operating in, the days of spending £60m-£70m for young players on the back of one good season are well and truly over.

Forest are not going to get anywhere close to that fee for Murillo. Spurs might test the waters with a bid of around £40m-£45m for the Brazilian over the coming weeks.
