Report: La Liga club are dreaming of signing Spurs star but there is one roadblock

According to the print edition of AS (as relayed by Sport Witness), while Real Betis are keen on re-signing Giovni Lo Celso, they would have to qualify for Europe to be able to afford the deal.

Over recent weeks, various outlets have claimed that Tottenham are ready to cash in on the 28-year-old when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

This includes a recent update by Estadio Deportivo (via TEAMtalk) who claimed that Betis ‘have not forgotten the attacking midfielder’ and are determined to re-sign him.

The outlet revealed that the Spurs man is open to returning to Benito Villamarin Stadium as he believes the move would help him establish himself as a regular in the Argentine national side.

Just a couple of days ago, Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo threw a major hint that the club will try to re-sign the Tottenham star by stating that the La Liga side are well aware of the player’s qualities (Radio Sevilla via Diario de Sevilla).

Giovani Lo Celso is a dream signing for Real Betis

AS have now said that Betis are ‘dreaming’ of bringing Lo Celso back to the club after failing to sign him on loan last summer.

However, it is pointed out that a deal could prove difficult for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, given their financial difficulties. It is asserted that the transfer would be ‘almost impossible’ if they fail to qualify for Europe next season.

Betis currently sit eighth in the table, five points behind sixth-placed Real Sociedad, who currently occupy the final Europa League Place and two points behind seventh place, which will be enough to secure passage to the Europa Conference League.

With Lo Celso having just a year left on his contract, he has plenty of power and will have a big say on where he ends up this summer. Although there will not be any shortage of interest in his services, I can see the Argentine pushing to join Betis.
