Report: Spurs have ‘initiated contact’ over a deal for 19-year-old left-back

According to the print edition of Tuttosport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a move for Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu but could face quite a bit of competition for the youngster’s services.

Dorgu has had an exceptional first season since joining Lecce from Nordsjaelland last summer, with the teenager having impressed as a conventional left-back as well as in the left wing-back role.

According to TuttoSport, clubs from England, Spain and Italy have all taken note of the 19-year-old’s displays and are now considering making moves for him when the transfer window opens in the summer.

Tottenham face competition for Patrick Dorgu

The report primarily discusses the interest of Juventus and AC Milan in Dorgu but it is revealed that both sides have to clarify their financial situations before they can make a move for the full-back.

It is alleged that they would have to be wary of competition from the Premier League and La Liga, with Tottenham and Atletico Madrid both said to be keen on the defender.

In fact, the outlet claims that Spurs have already ‘initiated contact’ over a summer deal for Dorgu, who is thought to be valued by Lecce at €20m (£17.2m).

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe that Tottenham are more likely to sign a right-back this summer than a left-back as I expect Emerson Royal to be sold and Ben Davies to remain at the club. Ideally, Postecoglou would want a player like Kyle Walker-Peters, who can operate on both sides of the pitch.
