Emerson Royal has reportedly been told by Tottenham Hotspur that he can leave the club this summer, and a £20m asking price is thought to have been placed on the full-back.
Having joined Tottenham almost three years ago now, Emerson Royal has arguably done very little to suggest he is up to the standard required by the Lilywhites.
Though he has shined in rare moments, his defensive awareness and composure on the ball have often been criticised by pundits and fans alike.
His latest display in the 4-2 defeat against Liverpool, albeit as a makeshift left-back, provided many with cause for concern.
He may have played 21 times for Ange Postecoglou‘s side this season (Transfermarkt), but there are reports that Royal will be ‘sacrificed’ this summer in a bid to clear out the squad, with Saudi Arabia sides interested (Football Insider).

Now, the latest from Football Insider suggests Tottenham have named their price for the Brazilian, and are ready to tell the player to find a new club this summer.

It is thought Tottenham would “accept offers of around £20m,” with the North London club looking to bring in new defenders, full-backs included.
With Royal losing his place to Pedro Porro this season, and the fact he has fallen down the pecking order means he is now surplus to requirements at Spurs.
His contract ends in 2026, but Tottenham are now ready to cut their losses on the £25.8m signing.

I think it’s definitely time for Emerson Royal to move on. He seems a good guy and he does work hard, but he is nowhere near the level of player we need, even as a backup. If we can get £20m for him, we’ve got a good deal there, though I suspect a Saudi club would probably pay it.
