Report: Tottenham reach out to striker’s agent as they step up transfer chase

Football Insider reveal that Tottenham Hotspur have now made contact with the representatives of Jonathan David about a summer transfer.

Over recent days, the speculation linking David with a move to Spurs has intensified, with various sources suggesting that the Lilywhites hold a genuine interest in the Lille star (Football.London).

However, Tottenham are not thought to be alone in their admiration of the 24-year-old, with a number of outlets suggesting that the likes of Man Utd, West Ham and Chelsea are also after the player (BBC Sport).

In fact, according to some sources, the Blues have already spoken to David and his entourage regarding a move to Stamford Bridge this summer (The Athletic).

If Football Insider’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs have now also followed suit, making contact with the Canadian international’s agent to register their interest.

The report says that Ange Postecoglou is keen to add another forward to his squad to take the goalscoring burden off Richarlison and Son Heung-min, with David thought to have now been identified by the Australian as a target.

The publication adds that the former Gent man has been told by Lille that he can depart this summer if their valuation is met.

It is not surprising that Tottenham have got involved in the race rather than allowing Chelsea to have a free run at David.

At the moment, it sounds like the two London clubs are the ones at the front of the queue, battling it out for the 24-year-old’s signature.
