Teddy Sheringham claims side pulled off a ‘coup’ with player released by Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur have already seen a couple of their players leave this summer to take on new challenges in the Championship, and one of those has been regarded as a huge signing for their next club.

Millwall

Millwall are set to make impressive summer signing

Sheringham began his career at Millwall, before making a name for himself at Spurs and later, Manchester United.

The former striker has been praising his first club, the manager, and the impending signing of Japhet Tanganga.

He told Football League World: “He’s a good young player and coming through the ranks at Spurs is a good sounding board. I trust Neil Harris to do well at Millwall in this spell. He is the right man to lead the club forward.

“He knows a player and knows the type of player who will fit into Millwall and also how the players will perform as a team. So, when you’re bringing in good players to improve the squad – it is a coup for Millwall, but Neil Harris takes credit here.”

Tanganga impressed on loan at Millwall last season

Tanganga was released by Spurs this summer before joining Millwall on a free transfer. According to Luca Bendoni, the defender has agreed a two-year-deal with the Championship outfit, with the option for a further year.

It was later revealed by Sky Sports reporter, Dharmesh Sheth, that Tanganga will become the highest-paid player at Millwall.

After a disastrous loan spell with German side Augsburg in the first half of last season where he failed to make an appearance, Tanganga made 18 appearances for Millwall and helped them stay up with two goals and a string of top performances (Transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

I have to admit I was a little surprised Millwall were able to keep Tanganga. I thought a bigger Championship side might sign him, or even one of the promoted teams in the Premier League. But, he obviously enjoyed his time there last year and he should do well there again.
