‘We are looking’ – Club director confirms he is interested in signing Spurs player

Feyenoord director Dennis te Kloese has confirmed that the Eredivisie club are trying to secure Bryan Gil this summer but confessed that they are facing quite a bit of competition for the Tottenham man.

Gil has struggled for game time at Spurs once again this season and various reports over recent weeks have backed the winger’s three-year spell at the North London club to come to an end this summer.

This includes a recent update by Football Insider, which suggested that Tottenham are open to listening to offers for the 23-year-old and backed him to return to La Liga this summer.

However, the Spain international is to be attracting interest from the Netherlands, with Feyenoord alleged to be keen on securing his services.

A couple of days ago, 1908.nl suggested that the Dutch club had already seen multiple proposals for Gil turned down but had not given up on their pursuit.

Feyenoord are looking at signing Bryan Gil from Spurs

The publication added the Rotterdam club’s hierarchy are of the belief that a deal for the former Sevilla man was far from impossible to pull off this summer.

This has now been confirmed by Te Kloese, who revealed that the club have held an interest in Gil for a long time.

The Feyenoord director told Algemeen Dagblad (as relayed by 1908.nl): “The fact that we are in the race for Gil has been the case for several transfer windows. We are looking again at what is possible.

“We offer a fantastic platform to give boys a good continuation of their career. Or to show themselves again. Gil is a good player, but there are many more clubs that are looking at that boy.”

Even though Gil has hardly played any football over the past 12 months, it sounds like many sides across Europe recognise the winger’s value. Tottenham will hope to get a bidding war going for the 23-year-old and make around £15m from his sale.
