Report: Club may look to sign Spurs player now to avoid summer ‘transfer tussle’

Joe Rodon is loving life at Leeds United, and it would seem the Championship club are loving having him around, too. The latest report on his situation suggests Leeds would be keen to make his stay there permanent, and are prepared to make that happen this month to avoid a battle for his signature in the summer.

Having joined Spurs back in 2020, Joe Rodon arrived with great expectations on his shoulders, but has never been able to establish himself as a first team regular regardless of which manager he has played under in North London.

The Welshman has just 24 appearances to his name in a Tottenham shirt (Transfermarkt), and has spent the last two seasons away from the club on loan.

This year, Rodon has flourished with Leeds United, helping the Yorkshire side challenge for promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. Funnily enough, Rodon has already registered more appearances in half a season with Leeds than he has in his entire Tottenham career (Transfermarkt).

Leeds want to sign Joe Rodon permanently

There could be many more appearances for Rodon in a Leeds shirt further down the line, too, with a report from Football.London suggesting the Championship side are very keen to snap him up permanently.

It is believed Leeds fans are “desperate” for their club to sign Rodon up long-term, but there is no option in the loan agreement for that to happen. Therefore, Leeds are going to have to strike a deal with Spurs, but fear the player has “increased his value and the interest in his services” with his displays this term.

Apparently, Leeds may look to negotiate an “early deal this month,” as they fear entering into a “transfer tussle” in the summer. The downside is, Leeds may have to wait until the end of the season, to know which league they will be playing in, before they can make the transfer happen.

Spurs Web Opinion

Joe Rodon making his switch to Leeds United just feels inevitable, especially if they can get promoted. I would love to see him get a proper chance in the Premier League, and I think that will happen next term, whether it is with Leeds or not.
