Fabrizio Romano claims Spurs player could be involved in a ‘transfer domino’

According to Fabrizio Romano, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could end up leaving Tottenham Hotspur this month, depending on how other transfers around Europe play out.

Despite being a key figure during the tenures of both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has found himself further down the pecking order under new boss, Ange Postecoglou.

With the Australian clearly favouring the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, and Pape Sarr this season, Hojbjerg’s future at Spurs is now in doubt.

The Danish international has played 22 times for Tottenham this season at an average of 41 minutes per game (Transfermarkt). That’s less than half his 88-minute average from the 2022/23 campaign.

Football Insider recently claimed Hojbjerg could be on his way to Juventus for a loan spell, but only if the two clubs can come to an agreement on a loan fee. However, the Italian side are known to have limited financial resources.

Hojbjerg move could depend on Jordan Henderson

The latest from Fabrizio Romano suggests that, with two weeks left of the transfer window, a move for Hojbjerg cannot be ruled out, and his situation could depend on external circumstances involving Jordan Henderson’s proposed exit from Saudi Arabia.

He told Kick: “I still think for Tottenham, there is a chance for Pierre-Hojbjerg to leave the club. This is an important point. I think he could be part of a midfielder domino in the January transfer window. At the moment, it’s still quiet with Napoli and Juventus despite rumours.

“Let’s see what happens with Jordan Henderson. But, I think for Hojbjerg, there’s still a chance to leave in January, and in that case for Tottenham, could be the opportunity to bring in a new midfielder.”

Spurs Web Opinion

We know that Hojbjerg will likely be leaving Spurs in the near future, but a transfer this month will depend largely on whether the club can find an adequate upgrade before the end of the transfer window. If he doesn’t leave now, he will almost definitely depart in the summer.
