Calcio Lecce report that Tottenham have made an approach to US Lecce this week about signing their highly-rated 19-year-old left-back.

Tottenham need competition for Udogie

It was a debut season to remember for Destiny Udogie in the Premier League last year, following his switch from Udinese. However, Spurs are now in need of competition for the left-back.

After an injury ended his season early and the youngster also picked up a red card against Chelsea, it makes sense for Spurs to have someone waiting in the wings as a backup.

Ben Davies isn’t getting any younger and is perhaps better suited to a left-centre-back role these days, while Sergio Reguilon seems destined to follow Ryan Sessegnon out the Spurs exit door.

Tottenham make a move for Patrick Dorgu

Tottenham are reportedly one of the clubs interested in a move for US Lecce left-back, Patrick Dorgu, this summer, who enjoyed a breakthrough season in Serie A last time out.

Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea and Napoli are all said to be keen on the 19-year-old, with the latter already making a bid for his services. Tottenham have also reportedly made an approach.

However, Lecce are demanding around €30m (£25m) for the youngster this summer and no club has come close to that asking price as of yet.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Signing a highly-rated teenage left-back from the Serie A… when has that ever worked for Spurs?

While Dorgu would be a great backup to Udogie, I suspect Tottenham would loan him back to Lecce for another season even if they did sign him this summer.
