Austin was due to be out of contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer but has now penned a five-year contract which will run until 2029.

The keeper featured in the second half of the post-season friendly against Newcastle United in Melbourne last week replacing Alfie Whiteman between the posts.

The Tottenham academy graduate has stepped up to become Guglielmo Vicario‘s understudy for large parts of the 2023/24 campaign with Fraser Forster having been sidelined due to a foot issue.

Austin is still yet to play a competitive fixture for the Tottenham first-team and has instead had to head out on loan to Danish side Viborg FF and Orlando City in the MLS to get a taste of senior football.

Whiteman is out of contract next summer and has previously also spent time away from North London on loan having enjoyed two separate stints at Swedish outfit Degefors IF.

A statement on the official Spurs site read: “We are delighted to announce that Brandon Austin has signed a new contract with the Club, which will run until 2029.”

With Fraser Forster potentially one of those who could head out of the door this summer, we could very well see Austin step up to become Tottenham’s full-time number two to Guglielmo Vicario.

Austin appears to have clearly established himself ahead of fellow academy graduate Alfie Whiteman, who will either remain as third choice or also head out of the door.

Given the fact the club have handed Austin a five-year contract really does signal that they consider him to be a long-term part of their plans under Ange Postecoglou.
