‘Can cut Bournemouth open’ – Chris Sutton predicts exciting Tottenham score

Chris Sutton has said that he cannot see Tottenham’s makeshift backline keeping a clean sheet against Bournemouth but he still backed the Lilywhites to emerge comfortable winners.

Spurs will look to put the disappointment of Thursday’s performance behind them as they return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to take on the Cherries.

While this fixture might have been circled as a home banker by Spurs fans a little while ago, that certainly does not appear to be the case now, with the South Coast club coming into the clash on the back of four straight league wins.

Ange Postecoglou was without nine senior players for the clash against Brighton (Football.London) and while he is expected to have Oliver Skipp back, he will have to make do without Dejan Kulusevski, who has to serve a one-match suspension after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season.

Sutton predicts healthy win for Tottenham Hotspur

Sutton believes that Dominic Solanke could have plenty of joy against Ben Davies and Emerson Royal, but he backed the home side to emerge with all three points.

The former Celtic striker told BBC Sport: “Spurs’ defeat against Brighton was a sore one for manager Ange Postecoglou, who is without injured defender Cristian Romero for up to five weeks. He is such a key player, so that is a real stinker for them.

“Bournemouth, meanwhile, cannot stop winning. They are on fire, and so is Dominic Solanke with eight goals in seven games. I can’t see Spurs’ makeshift defence keeping him out, but they will come out on top.

“It might take a Postecoglou rocket to get them back on track, but they have plenty of creative players and can cut Bournemouth open. Prediction: 3-1.”

Postecoglou will call on his troops to deliver one final big push on Sunday, with Spurs having almost a full week to recover before the FA Cup clash against Burnley.

Anything other than a win on Sunday would be a serious setback, particularly with Son, Sarr and Bissouma set to miss the next few weeks due to the AFCON and Asian Cup.
