With Lo Celso struggling to get much game time last season and now having just a year left on his contract, it seems inevitable that the Argentine’s five-year spell at the North London club would come to an end this summer.

A number of Spanish outlets over recent weeks have talked up the possibility of the midfielder returning to Betis.

This includes an update from El Mira last week, which stated that the La Liga side have already held ‘official meetings’ with Spurs over a deal to re-sign the 28-year-old.

The report added that the Argentina international is now Betis’ ‘main objective’ for the summer and that the player is keen on returning to his former stomping ground.

Real Betis have not submitted an offer for Lo Celso

Haro has now confirmed that the Tottenham man has long been on the club’s radar but he insisted that no offer has been sent for the midfielder so far.

When asked about the rumoured interest in Lo Celso, the Betis president said (via Estadio Deportivo): “It is recurring every summer that Lo Celso’s name appears, because we remember the good year he had here. However, now there is no proposal or offer. I like him, but there is nothing (so far).”

One would expect an official approach to arrive from Betis quite early in the transfer window and Spurs will likely not stand in Lo Celso’s way if he makes it clear that he wants to return to Estadio Benito Villamarin.
