Tottenham continue to be linked with Conor Gallagher

Spurs are very keen to sign a new central midfielder this summer and Gallagher has long been mooted as a possible acquisition for the Lilywhites.

A report from TEAMtalk previously claimed Tottenham consider £40m enough to nab the Chelsea man, with the 23-year-old at the top of Ange Postecoglou‘s shopping list this summer.

Whether he would make the switch across London or not, and whether Chelsea will actually let their star academy graduate leave at all, remains to be seen.

According to Football.London reporter Alasdair Gold, if Gallagher did make the move, he would fit in really well at Spurs and could even play a deeper defensive midfield role if needed.

Jamie O’Hara wants Conor Gallagher at Spurs

Now, former Spurs man Jamie O’Hara has weighed in, telling Grosvenor Sport: “I believe Conor Gallagher would be an excellent fit for Tottenham and I can see him making the move this summer. Tottenham should be eager to buy him, but it will depend on whether Daniel Levy is willing to invest in the transfer.

“I think he’s the perfect signing for Tottenham’s needs this summer – he’s a talented player with a competitive edge that would benefit the team. I really like what he is about.

“I think part of the reason Mauricio Pochettino left Chelsea is because Todd Boehly has said that the club are selling Gallagher. I think Tottenham should go all in for his signature, he has one year left on his contract and they’d be able to get him for about £50 million.”

Discussing the rivalry between the two teams, O’Hara added: “There haven’t been many transfers between Chelsea and Tottenham in the past, but I don’t see that as a problem, Tottenham have taken enough of Chelsea’s managers, so why not take some of their players?

“This is a transfer both parties clearly want to happen. I believe he will be at Tottenham at the start of next season.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Is Conor Gallagher the best player for the exact role Spurs need in the middle of the park? Probably not.

The fact we could sign an England international, improve our homegrown quota, and wind up the Chelsea fanbase, makes him a great signing.
