Fabrizio Romano explains Tottenham’s plan when Kane reports for pre-season

Fabrizio Romano has said on his YouTube channel that Harry Kane has not yet communicated a desire to leave to the Tottenham hierarchy, who remain hopeful that the striker could be persuaded to stay.

We relayed a report from The Evening Standard last week, which claimed that Bayern Munich are set to test Tottenham’s resolve to hang on to Kane by making an improved second offer for the striker after their opening bid was turned down.

The report added that the England captain is ready to make a switch to the Allianz Arena in search of silverware if the two clubs agree on a transfer fee.

Kane has not asked Tottenham to let him leave yet

This information has now been backed up by Romano, who has said in his latest YouTube video that the England captain is indeed open to moving to Germany.

However, he explained that the striker has not yet told the Tottenham hierarchy that he wants out of the club this summer.

Romano stated that the plan at Spurs is for Ange Postecoglou to have direct talks with Kane when he reports for pre-season training to understand if the pair can work together for the upcoming season.

The journalist added that Bayern are not prepared to give up on the deal and wish to ‘attack the situation’.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think it would be hard for Tottenham to persuade Kane to stay as the striker has just one year left on his deal and will have the freedom to pick his next destination next summer.

However, the question for the club is whether they want to lose him on a free to a Premier League rival next summer rather than getting a decent fee for him now and making sure he moves abroad.

It is wishful thinking to expect the 29-year-old to change his mind and sign a new deal.

Unless Postecoglou performs a miracle and gets us competing for the title next season, I doubt Kane would be persuaded to put pen to paper on a contract.
