Fabrizio Romano reveals what he has heard about Spurs’ Conor Gallagher pursuit

Fabrizio Romano has revealed on his YouTube channel that there are no active negotiations between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea for Conor Gallagher at the moment.

The speculation linking Gallagher with a switch to Spurs has gone into hyperdrive over the last few days, with Gianluca Di Marzio even asserting on Sunday that the two London clubs have begun talks over a £40m deal for the midfielder.

However, Football London’s Alasdair Gold subsequently stated on Monday that the talks of  Tottenham’s move for Gallagher are ‘premature’ at the moment.

He explained that while Spurs are continuing to keep an eye on the 23-year-old, they might wait until the end of the window to make a move for the 23-year-old if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg departs.

No negotiations between Spurs and Chelsea yet

Romano has now said something quite similar, revealing that the Blues and the Lilywhites are currently not holding any talks about the England international.

The journalist adds that the West London club would only be open to cashing in on Gallagher if they receive ‘an important offer’ for the player.

Perhaps Tottenham are now putting all their focus on getting a centre-back through the door first and will turn their attention to a midfielder once that is done. I would be very surprised if Spurs do not at least test the waters with an offer for Gallagher this transfer window.
