Fabrizio Romano says Borussia Dortmund are interested in Spurs player

According to Fabrizio Romano, Sergio Reguilon’s return to Tottenham Hotspur this month will be a short-lived one, as the club are looking to send him out on loan once more.

After spending last season on loan at Atletico Madrid, it came as no surprise that Sergio Reguilon was deemed surplus to requirements at Tottenham again in the summer. What was surprising, however, was the fact the Spaniard ended up signing for Manchester United.

The six-month loan deal for Reguilon saw the 27-year-old make 12 appearances for the Red Devils to help alleviate their injury crisis (Transfermarkt).

Sergio Reguilon isn’t staying at Spurs

It was unclear whether that arrangement would be extended or whether the break clause would be activated to end the loan deal. Now, it has been revealed that the agreement has indeed come to an end with Reguilon returning to Spurs imminently (The Athletic).

However, it seems the left-back will not have a place in Ange Postecoglou‘s squad moving forward, and will instead be shipped out on loan for the remainder of the season.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who had this to say: “Sergio Reguilón, expected to leave Spurs again during the January transfer window as he wants to play regularly.

“Loan options being considered; there’s interest from Premier League clubs after Borussia Dortmund added him to their list in December. Race remains open.”

Reguilon has previously been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund, who are keen to take the Spanish defender on loan until the end of the season (BILD).

I think the loan move to Manchester United actually did Reguilon a world of good and he showed he can still compete at this level. I would not be surprised to see another Premier League club trying to sign him this month.
