Former star who played in 2019 CL Final backs Spurs to win Premier League this season

When asked who will win the Premier League this season, ex-Tottenham man Victor Wanyama insisted his former club can go all the way after what he has seen so far this term.

Ange Postecoglou has done an incredible job at rejuvenating the Tottenham Hotspur squad and bringing joy back to the fan base after the dismal efforts of the team in the 2022/23 campaign.

With attacking football and a more confident spirit among the squad, things are looking up for Spurs, and performances and results on the pitch are matching that.

After the win over Bournemouth at the weekend, Spurs are now just one point off the top four, and six points off Liverpool in first place in the Premier League.

While many expect Champions League qualification to be the target this year, there are murmurs of the Lilywhites challenging for the top prize.

Wanyama thinks Spurs can compete at the very top

Victor Wanyama certainly thinks they can do it, and he has told Radio 47 Digital (via Pulse Sports) that the Spurs squad is good enough to compete with the top teams in the league.

He said: “I think this season, Spurs, they have a good team and they can really do it because you can see a lot of top teams are on the same level. They have a big chance to win the league.”

When asked outright who he thinks will win the Premier League, Wanyama confidently and concisely replied, “Tottenham Hotspur.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Why can’t we win the league this year? It would have been unthinkable six or seven months ago, but Postecoglou has got the team playing incredibly well and we are showing so much more resilience to grind out results, too, which is always important. It’s one of the most open seasons in recent memory so far this term, and we’re right in the middle of the chase.
