It appears that at least once a day there is a new report focused on Emerson Royal‘s future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and today is no different.

Sky Sport Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio has this evening provided his latest understanding of the situation surrounding a potential move to AC Milan for the Brazilian international on X.

Di Marzio has revealed that new talks have taken place between Tottenham and the Serie A giants which have resulted in a deal becoming closer to being agreed, however, an agreement is not in place just yet.

The 25-year-old defender made just 22 appearances across all competitions for Spurs mainly from the bench last season having found himself behind Pedro Porro in Ange Postecoglou‘s pecking order at right-back.

Royal recently admitted in an interview with Globo that he was unhappy with his lack of regular first-team football and had spoken to Postecoglou about his situation and revealed he is prepared to leave in order to play.

The former Barcelona defender has also been credited with interest from Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr said to be keen on his services (The Sun).

Fabrizio Romano revealed last night that there is only a €3m (£2.5m) difference in valuation between Spurs and Milan.

It will be interesting to see if Royal is included in Saturday’s match between Tottenham and Vissel Kobe in Tokyo.

It appears that it is only a matter of time before this deal gets concluded unless Daniel Levy really does dig in his heels to get what he wants.

Royal has voiced his desire to play regular first-team football and that simply is not going to happen at Tottenham next season, with Porro a much more suited option to operate in the way that Postecoglou demands from his inverted full-backs.

Hopefully, this one gets over the line and we are soon reporting on some significant arrivals to improve the starting XI.
