Report: Spurs could be without Argentine for next two Premier League matches

Tottenham Hotspur could once again be without the services of Giovani Lo Celso this weekend when Ange Postecoglou’s side host Sheffield United, according to the Evening Standard.

Spurs welcome the Blades to North London on Saturday afternoon looking to build on their unbeaten start to the new Premier League campaign with three wins and a draw to their name as they headed into the international break.

Lo Celso has had to be patient for opportunities under the Australian with the likes of James Maddison ahead of him in the midfield pecking order.

Spurs without Giovani Lo Celso due to injury

He was handed his first start of the campaign in the Carabao Cup defeat at Fulham last month and had to be withdrawn at half time after suffering a leg issue and also sat out the 5-2 win at Burnley along with international duty with Argentina.

Postecoglou admitted in his pre-match press conference ahead of the match against the Clarets that he was hopeful Lo Celso would be back in action soon.

He told Football.London: “From the other night, the only one missing is Gio Lo Celso. He’s got a quad strain, that’s why we took him off at half time. It’s nothing too serious. We’ve got the break coming up so hopefully not too long after that.”

The Evening Standard have predicted that the midfielder could also miss the North London derby at Arsenal and will return to fitness for the visit of Liverpool at the end of the month.

Lo Celso looked sharp during the pre-season tour and it comes as a blow that he could be on the sidelines for another couple of weeks, hopefully James Maddison can remain fit since he is the creative spark which the side has been lacking since Christian Eriksen’s exit.
