While Tottenham’s capture of Bergvall was hailed as a real coup back in January, the youngster’s outstanding displays for Djurgardens over the last few months have only made Spurs fans even more excited ahead of the teenager’s arrival at Hotspur Way this summer.

The Sweden starlet has dominated almost every opponent he has come up against in the Allsvenskan but there is no doubt that adapting to the physicality and intensity of the Premier League will be a huge challenge for the 18-year-old.

However, if Bergstrom’s latest assertion is anything to go by, the midfielder will certainly not be bullied off the ball as he has put on a lot of muscle recently.

Lucas Bergvall is getting stronger ahead of Spurs arrival

Bergstrom, who previously played with Bergvall, came up against his former teammate when Djurgardens played Mjallby two weeks ago, with the on-loan Tottenham man netting a brace to help his side emerge 3-1 winners.

On the back of that encounter, the Mjallby star told Fotbol Skanalen about his former teammate. “He pushed me down in a tackle, that says it all. That it’s not just a nice little player who’s good with the ball, but that [has] almost everything, I think. A fine person, a great guy.”

When asked if Bergvall’s physique had changed significantly from last season, Bergstrom added: “He spices it up with the fact that he has gained a lot of kilos. I don’t think so, he probably just made it up, so to speak. He was strong even then, I think.”

It could have likely been a directive from Spurs to Bergvall to put on a few kilos of muscle before linking up with the squad this summer.

The Swede only turned 18 a few months ago and is still very much growing into his body but by the sounds of it, he is certainly not going to be bullied in the Premier League.
