Journalist claims academy graduate could be sold by Spurs this summer

Oliver Skipp could be sold in the summer by Tottenham Hotspur, along with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso, according to journalist Gary Jacob.

Everything is changing under Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham. In just two transfer windows, the Australian has brought in a number of top quality players to revitalise his squad, and we have seen many fringe players leave the club, too.

One area that still needs work is in the centre of midfield, a position cited as Tottenham’s next big priority when it comes to finding upgrades (The Independent).

Spurs have long held an interest in Conor Gallagher, but it seems more likely that the Chelsea man would move in the summer now as opposed to a switch in the current transfer window (Football Insider).

Regardless of if and when that move happens, it would appear a number of Tottenham players are facing an uncertain future at the club, with both Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg having their game time limited this season.

With this in mind, Gary Jacobs has revealed what he believes the Spurs midfield will look like in a few months from now, and there doesn’t seem to be a place for Skipp or Hojbjerg.

Jacobs told The Times: “Tottenham’s midfield is changing. By the summer Skipp, Højbjerg and possibly Lo Celso will be gone. Then it’s Bentancur and Bissouma, Sarr and Maddison. The latter two are the attacking one. So they would be short and maybe need a player who can press and break a line.”

It would be a shame to see Skipp go, but the fact he is an academy product should not prevent the club from having the best possible players at their disposal. He has shown moments of real promise, but sadly, Skipp just isn’t dynamic enough for the style of football we want to play.
