Milan News journalist Pietro Mazzara is worried about how some Tottenham fans are reacting to the idea of AC Milan signing Emerson Royal this summer.

Emerson Royal to AC Milan has gone cold

Emerson has been linked with a potential move to the San Siro throughout the summer transfer window, but a deal appears to be no closer than it was when the window first opened.

Alasdair Gold recently revealed that Milan had only offered £8.6m for the Brazilian right-back, which is half of what Tottenham want to earn from his sale this summer.

Emerson Royal himself told Globo last month that he wants to play regular first-team football next season, even admitting that AC Milan had shown an interest in him.

Fabrizio Romano went as far as to report that a five-year contract has already been agreed between the Serie A giants and the Tottenham defender.

More recently, with talks between Spurs and Milan going cold, GiveMeSport reported that Borussia Dortmund, Al-Nassr and Al-Qadsiah are all keen on signing Royal this summer.

Is Emerson a good fit for AC Milan?

That has come as music to the ears of Pietro Mazzara, who has doubts over whether the Brazilian right-back is the best fit for AC Milan, especially as plenty of Spurs fans seem happy at the prospect of a sale.

He told Radio Rossonera: “Are we sure that Emerson Royal would be an upgrade compared to Calabria and Kalulu? Reading around the thoughts of the Tottenham fans, it almost seemed like they were praying that Milan would sign him.

“Milan tried to sign a player who is evidently not a first choice at Tottenham and who perhaps would have had a certain impact from a physical point of view in Italy. However, he lacks certain features.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would be very surprised if Emerson Royal was still a Spurs player come the end of the transfer window.

I would also be surprised if someone wasn’t willing to pay around £15m for him. In a different league, especially Serie A, I think his more defensive attributes would work really well.
