Journalist provides update on Tosin Adarabioyo amid links with Tottenham

According to journalist Santi Aouna, Monaco are ‘close to an agreement’ to sign Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham and could be set to beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signing within the next week.

It is well known that Tottenham struggled defensively last season, and as such, new boss Ange Postecoglou is very keen to bring in reinforcements for the centre of his defence this summer (90 Min).

So far during the current transfer window, Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven have been the names most strongly linked with a move to North London.

The Bundesliga pair have been cited as perfect examples of the kind of centre-half that would work in Spurs’ system (Football.London).

However, with big talent, comes a big price tag. Understandably, Spurs have also been linked with more moderately-priced centre-backs, with Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo a player who is thought to be on Postecoglou’s radar (Alasdair Gold for Football.London).

Just last week, Foot Mercato reported that French side Monaco may have moved ahead of Tottenham in the race for Adarabioyo’s signature.

Adarabioyo close to Monaco move instead of Spurs

Now, Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna has taken to Twitter to reveal that Monaco and Fulham have very nearly come to an agreement for Adarabioyo, with a suggestion that the deal could be completed imminently.

Aouna said: “Monaco and Fulham are close to an agreement for Tosin Adarabioyo. The two clubs hope to finalise the file before the end of next week.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If Tosin Adarabioyo is as close to a move to Monaco as this suggests, then we must have other ideas in mind for adding new centre-backs to the squad.

Adarabioyo would not have broken the bank, so you’d assume we could have got a deal over the line if we wanted to. Let’s just hope we have something lined up soon, or fans will get restless.
