Lucas Bergvall is coming to the end of his career with Djurgarden, and while he is sad to be leaving the Swedish side, he has explained how excited he is to join Tottenham in July.
Spurs surprised many with their activity in the transfer market in January when, on deadline day, they managed to usurp Barcelona and secure the signature of Bergvall, one of the most highly-rated youngsters in Europe.
The teenage sensation will join Tottenham on July 1, and is widely expected to be a genuine part of Ange Postecoglou‘s first-team squad for next season (The Athletic).
He may only be 18 years old, but big things are expected of Bergvall when he arrives in the Premier League, and he has continually excelled in Sweden since his move to Spurs was announced.
Spurs transfer is bittersweet for Bergvall
Looking ahead to the big transfer and the move to London, Bergvall has been discussing his feelings about leaving Djurgarden, and what his plan for the future is.
He told Fotboll Direkt: “It will be special. It feels depressing of course. I enjoy myself here, so it feels really sad to leave everyone here, but I hope to come back at some point.
“You start to realize that it is the last game here now for hopefully maybe 17 years. That is the plan. It is. I want to finish here, but then you don’t know if you will get injured or finish abroad. But yeah, that’s the plan. Djurgården has meant an incredible amount to me and has been a big part of my life. So yes, the club has meant a lot.”
