The Premier League asked nine pundits to predict their top four for the upcoming season and only four of them had Tottenham in it.
Tottenham finished fifth last season
Spurs were piped to fourth by Aston Villa towards the end of last season as the wheels came off for Ange Postecoglou’s men towards the end of the campaign.
The Lilywhites will be expected to do better this time around, with the players now accustomed to the new system and with the club also making some exciting additions to the squad.
However, it looks like Tottenham still go into the camping as outsiders for Champions League qualification, with a majority of pundits not expecting the club to secure a top-four finish.
Most pundits think Spurs will miss out on top four
Only Tim Sherwood, Mark Schwarzer, Don Hutchison and Leon Osman had Spurs finishing in the guaranteed Champions League places, with all four of them having the club in fourth place.
Michael Owen, Karen Carney, Darren Bent, Shay Given, and Matt Holland had the North London side falling short once again.
Here are the top four predictions that the pundits gave on the Premier League’s official website:
Michael Owen: Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Man City
Karen Carney: Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd
Darren Bent: Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea
Tim Sherwood: Man City, Arsenal, Man Utd, Spurs
Shay Given: Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle
Mark Schwarzer: Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs
Don Hutchison: Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs
Matt Holland: Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd
Leon Osman: Arsenal, Man City, Newcastle, Spurs
Spurs Web Opinion
It is a good thing that Tottenham are a bit under the radar at the moment and go into the season with very little expectations from the wider footballing media.
There is no doubt that Ange will set his sights very high and will want to try and challenge the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal.
