Premier League star threatens to also copy James Maddison’s celebration against Spurs

Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson has quipped that he might take note from Bukayo Saka and copy James Maddison’s celebration if he were to score against Spurs.

Speaking on The Footballer’s Football Podcast, Wilson joked that he would make copying the former Leicester City star’s dart-throwing celebration a thing to wind him up after the attacking midfielder snubbed Newcastle in the summer for Tottenham.

“For banter, I might actually do his celebration as I know him and I might make it a running thing that if you score against Tottenham you have to do Madders’ celebration. It’ll wind him up for sure.

“Especially as he had Newcastle and Tottenham to the side and he chose them. Those assists he could have been doing up here! It might not have been me as I’ve been on the bench for a while but for Alex! I might do his darts celebration but we will have to keep it on the down low!”

People are trying to wind Maddison up at Spurs

At the Emirates Stadium last weekend, Arsenal opened the scoring after Saka’s shot took a massive deflection off of Cristian Romero and beat Guglielmo Vicario between the sticks. The England international proceeded to mimic Maddison’s darts celebration.

However, just before the break, Son Heing-min managed to equalise after being set up by the former Leicester star and the two teams went into the break level.

Saka was given another opportunity to find the back of the net after Romero was deemed to have handled the ball in the box and the Arsenal star did not falter from the spot, copying Maddison’s celebration once again.

But Saka’s delight was short-lived as an error from Jorginho led to Tottenham making it 2-2 and it was Spurs’ number 10 who was once again on hand to provide the assist to Son.

Tottenham will face Newcastle United on 9 December in the Premier League at home, with the away fixture scheduled for 13 April next year.
