While we are still waiting for the official announcement of Radu Dragusin’s transfer to Tottenham Hotspur, it would appear to be little more than a formality at this point. Now, Fabrizio Romano has even been able to reveal what squad number the defender will take at his new club.
In one of the most protracted transfer sagas of the January transfer window so far, Dragusin was seemingly ready to become a Spurs player very early on this month, before competition from other clubs made things more difficult.
Earlier this week, it became apparent that Dragusin had a choice to make, with both Tottenham and Bayern Munich having offers accepted by Genoa (Gianluca Di Marzio).
Ultimately, the 21-year-old opted to keep his word and move to Tottenham, as he felt the North London club were more keen to sign him and would provide better opportunities for game time (GSP via Sport Witness).
It is thought the Romanian defender will be able to adapt to the English game very quickly, due to his intelligence and his personality (The Times). Apparently, that idea of personality has been a key reason Postecoglou wanted the signing in the first place (The Athletic).
What shirt number will Radu Dragusin wear for Spurs?
Clearly, Dragusin will have a big role to play at Spurs, or at least that’s the impression we get from the fact he has been handed a shirt number in the starting XI at Tottenham.
Fabrizio Romano is the first to share the information, tweeting: “Radu Dragusin, Spurs new number 6.”

I knew the number 6 would be an option for Dragusin, but I wasn’t sure if the club were going to give him a number in the 1-11 bracket. It’s important not to read too much into squad numbers, but the fact he has the number 6 does suggest he will be a regular starter for us.
