‘Really open’ – Chris Sutton predicts exciting score for Tottenham vs Newcastle

Chris Sutton expects the game between Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United to be very open with a lot of goals.

Spurs welcome Newcastle United to N17 this weekend having aggregated only one point from their last five games. The Magpies, on the other hand, will be hurting from the 3-0 loss to Everton in midweek and will want to bounce back.

Both managers have had their fair share of struggles with injuries this season. This has not helped their cause when it comes to results. That said, neither manager is likely to change the way their team plays.

Although Spurs have lost four of their last five games, their performances have not been bad. Defensive lapses have hurt them big time, which is telling considering they have led all these five games 1-0 before letting the opposition back into it.

Sutton expects ‘an open’ game with a lot of goals

Despite Spurs recent losing streak and Newcastle’s poor form away from home, Chris Sutton sees this as a game with ‘lots of goals’.

Speaking to BBC Sport, he said: “Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou needs a positive result after taking only one point from the past five games. But we already know he will carry on playing in the same way, which means anything can happen here.

“Newcastle’s away form has not been great recently, with just one league win on the road so far this season, but they are not going to change their approach either.

“Both teams are missing some key players through injury but neither side will just try to shut up shop. I feel like this is going to be really open, with both teams going for it… and lots of goals.”

Prediction: 3-3 draw

Spurs Web Opinion

If Sutton’s prediction materialises, it would mark the sixth consecutive game which we have failed to win and we don’t want that. At this point, we know that Postecoglou is not going to turn to a more pragmatic style and is going to continue in his merry ways.

What we can hope for as Spurs fans is that the team can outscore the opponent, and for a change put the game to bed and not give them a way back. It would be an entertaining game against the Magpies and let’s hope we emerge victorious and put an end to this winless streak.
