Report: AC Milan enter the race for striker heavily linked with Tottenham

According to Tuttosport (as relayed by Football Transfers), AC Milan are the latest club to enter the race for Tottenham target Santiago Gimenez.

We at Spurs Web have relayed several reports over the last couple of months which have talked up the chances of Tottenham swooping for Gimenez in January.

This includes an update from The Mirror on October 29 which claimed that the Lilywhites are convinced after scouting the Mexican extensively that he is the ideal option to fill Harry Kane’s shoes.

The report added that the Premier League side are willing to meet Feyenoord’s asking price for the prolific marksman in January.

However, Spurs are not alone in their admiration of Gimenez, with the likes of Real Madrid (Fichajes) and Barcelona (Sport) also credited with an interest in the player over the last few weeks.

AC Milan enter the race for Santiago Gimenez

If TuttoSport’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs now have even more to contend with for Gimenez’s signature, with Milan eyeing a move for the player.

It is explained that Rossoneri are keen on adding a number nine to replace the departing Olivier Giroud in January and their top target is Montpellier’s Akor Adams.

However, with the Ligue 1 club not willing to entertain offers for the Nigerian, the Italian giants are allegedly ready to turn their attention to the Feyenoord star, whom they have watched closely.

Spurs Web Opinion

The interest in Gimenez is likely to mount as we get closer to the January transfer window. The one potential positive for Spurs is that none of the other ‘big six’ Premier League clubs appear to be vying for the Mexican’s signature. Tottenham should be able to outbid the likes of Milan and Barca, who are not in a great financial position.
