Report claims 23-year-old midfielder could leave Tottenham this month

The Telegraph claimed that Oliver Skipp could be on his way out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in January.

Skipp has struggled to get starts under Ange Postecoglou this season, coming on as a substitute for 12 of his 14 Premier League appearances so far (Transfermarkt).

The midfielder appeared to be on the cusp of a breakthrough year 18 months ago but since then, multiple injuries have derailed his career, and he has not had any sort of continuity at the North London club.

However, with Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma now on their way to the African Cup of Nations, the youngster might get a chance to get a run in the side and show Postecoglou what he could offer.

However, The Telegraph have now suggested that the 23-year-old might be one of the players who exit Hotspur Way in the January window.

The report does not say if the Tottenham academy graduate is likely to be loaned out or sold but it is suggested that his exit would depend on injuries and potential incomings.

This report comes a week after Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed that Skipp has no intention of leaving and his determined to stay and fight for his place.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Tottenham are to offload someone to make room for a new midfield signing, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg seems the most likely candidate to leave. I do not think Ange would consider letting Skipp go for the time being. The Australian will likely put off a decision on the 23-year-old until next summer.
