Report: Genoa are prepared to take Spurs player on loan to help Radu Dragusin deal

According to the latest reports on Tottenham’s pursuit of Radu Dragusin, it seems Genoa are now happy to accept Djed Spence on loan as a part of the deal.

For close to a month now, Spurs have been looking to add Radu Dragusin to their ranks as the club desperately attempts to improve the depth in the centre of defence, particularly amid injuries to Cristian Romero and Ben Davies.

It has not been a simple process, though. Despite Spurs reportedly agreeing personal terms with Dragusin early in the transfer window, there have been ongoing negotiations regarding the price, and competition has emerged in the form of Bayern Munich (Florian Plettenberg) and Napoli (CalcioMercato).

Fabrizio Romano has always maintained confidence that it would be Spurs who would get the deal done, however, and recently claimed the North London side were in the ‘final stages’ of the discussions.

Djed Spence off to Genoa?

Now, we have a fresh update from Romano, which suggests Djed Spence of all people could be key to the negotiations, with the young defender set to switch to Genoa on loan as part of the Dragusin deal.

Romano tweeted: “Genoa are now prepared to accept Djed Spence as part of Radu Dragusin deal (with €25m fixed fee and €5m add-ons). It would be loan move until the end of the season. Negotiations continue today in order to get Dragusin deal done with Spence included.”

Spurs Web Opinion

This has come as something of a surprise, but it certainly makes sense from a Tottenham perspective. We clearly have no use for Spence, so if we can use him as a makeweight to get this Dragusin deal finalised, then that’s great. And who knows, maybe Spence can finally make a breakthrough in his own stuttering career.
