Report: Harry Kane is prepared to negotiate new Spurs contract if he stays

The Evening Standard have reported that Harry Kane is prepared to negotiate a contract extension with Tottenham Hotspur if he ends up staying beyond the summer transfer window.

The report claims that these negotiations could take place in the early months of the season, but only if Kane sees Tottenham make ‘significant progress’ on the pitch under the new manager.

Spurs would be taking a gamble by keeping Kane

If Bayern Munich do fail to land the England captain this summer, Kane would be entering the final year of his contract with Spurs, meaning he could talk to and sign a pre-agreement with overseas clubs in January.

Kane would then be able to join a club on a free in the summer of 2024, whether that be a European team like Bayern or a Premier League rival.

It remains to be seen what next move Bayern Munich make in the long-running Harry Kane saga.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I’m sure that Tottenham have spoken to Kane about his intentions. If he is 100 per cent against signing a new deal, then there is no way they will keep him beyond the transfer window. But if he is at all open to the idea, Daniel Levy may well take a gamble – especially if Bayern don’t pay up.
