Report: Player is willing to leave Spurs in order to be ‘happy in football’ again

The print edition of AS (as relayed by Sport Witness) has revealed that Giovani Lo Celso is ready to leave Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent basis as he wants to find a new home where he can be happy again.

A couple of days ago, we relayed a report from Fichajes which suggested that Lo Celso had already informed Spurs of his desire to leave in January.

The report added that Real Betis were ready to reignite their interest in the midfielder, having failed with a move for him in the summer.

The outlet added that even though the 27-year-old has interest from several sides, his number one preference is to return to the Benito Villamarin Stadium.

Spurs will only sanction permanent Lo Celso sale

AS have now provided more information on Betis’ interest in Lo Celso, stating that the Argentine remains ‘the great dream’ for the La Liga side.

The publication explains that the reason the Spanish side were not able to sign him in the summer is that Tottenham were only willing to sanction a permanent sale for a fee of €15m-€20m (£12.9m-£ 17.2m).

It is alleged that the North London club’s stance has not changed and they are unlikely to sanction a loan move in January.

The outlet adds that Lo Celso is happy with that as he wants to seal a permanent exit from the Premier League side and find a new home where he can ‘be happy in football’ once again.

Spurs Web Opinion

Lo Celso will only have 18 months left on his contract in January. So, another six-month loan move will not make sense for Tottenham. The Lilywhites will likely insist on including an obligation to buy in any loan move for the midfielder.
