Report: Sources not ruling out Son being fitted with mask before Leeds fixture

Earlier this evening, Tottenham Hotspur confirmed that Heung-min Son requires surgery to stabilise a fracture around his left eye.

The Daily Mail have provided something of an optimistic twist to the news by suggesting that sources have not ruled out the prospect of the striker being fitted with a protective mask with a view to being available for Tottenham’s last Premier League match against Leeds United on November 12, which will be the last top flight game before the start of the World Cup.

Son will undergo surgery before the end of the week to rectify the injury which he sustained in a nasty collision with Marseille’s Chancel Mbemba during the first half of the Champions League fixture last night which resulted in the South Korean heaving to leave the field of play while looking unstable on his feet, however, intitial indications suggest that he did not sustain a concussion.

He is now set to miss Sunday’s match against Liverpool and faces a nervous wait over his hopes of playing at the World Cup in Qatar which rest on how he how he recovers from surgery.
