Report: Spurs 26-year-old is interested in joining Championship club this summer

Leeds United desperately want to sign Joe Rodon on a permanent basis, and it appears the player is happy to join them, too. But, he will only sign if they earn promotion back to the Premier League this season.

Joe Rodon has never managed to establish himself as a Tottenham Hotspur player, but he has really found his feet on loan with Leeds United this term.

The Welshman has played the full 90 minutes in all but four of the Yorkshire side’s games this season, and has been a lynchpin in the Leeds backline all year. Understandably, the club’s fans are eager to see Rodon sign permanently (Football.London).

Rodon’s good form is believed to have increased his value, with a price tag of around £15m now thought to be attached to the defender, should Spurs choose to let him move on (The Athletic).

Premier League football is a must for Joe Rodon

Football Insider reported earlier this week that Premier League football would be a requirement for Leeds to sign Rodon, and now the same publication has doubled down on that, with a new update stating the player is keen to join Leeds if that promotion is achieved.

Apparently, Rodon is “interested in a permanent move” to Leeds United, and is “happy” with how things are going at the Championship outfit this season. This is believed to be a “major boost” in the club’s hopes of keeping hold of him.

However, regardless of how much he is enjoying himself, Rodon will make that switch “only if [Leeds] earn promotion” back to the top flight at the first time of asking.

Joe Rodon deserves nothing less than Premier League football, and with Leeds now up to second in the Championship, he’s got a good chance of earning promotion this year and extending his stay with the club.
