Morgan Gibbs-White is a star at Forest

Gibbs-White has been a key player for Nottingham Forest since joining from Wolves two years ago, for what was then a club-record signing of £25 million, plus a further £17 million in potential add-ons (BBC).

The creative midfielder has impressed with his skill on the ball and his ability to play in tight spaces. With 10 assists and five goals in 37 appearances in the Premier League last season, Gibbs-White played his part in ensuring Forest avoided relegation (Transfer Markt).

Possible Tottenham move for Gibbs-White

Football Insider now report that Forest are reluctant to let their star playmaker leave this summer, and it will take an offer of more than £40 million to bring them to the negotiating table.

The report confirms that interest has been shown in Gibbs-White from both Tottenham and Fulham.

Gibbs-White has been linked with a move to Tottenham for more than a year, with the midfielder believed by Spurs scouts to have ‘hugely improved’ and ‘gone to the next level’ since joining Forest (Football Insider).

Having been spotted training with Spurs vice-captain James Maddison this summer, supporters will be excited by the prospect of the playmakers linking up in N17 (Football London).

But if Gibbs-White does join Tottenham, it will cost the North London side around £40 million – a similar price to what they have already paid once this summer for Leeds United wonderkid Archie Gray, who joined for £30 million, with Joe Rodon moving in the opposite direction (BBC).

Spurs Web opinion:

Tottenham already have a quality attacking midfielder in Maddison and some supporters have called for Dejan Kulusevski to be played in the number 10 role.

But Gibbs-White can provide healthy competition for a position in the first team, while he also possesses the ability to play on the wing. And on top of that, he’s a homegrown player, so if Postecoglou wants him, he could be a great signing for Spurs.
