According to a report in Grada 3 (as translated by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur are now eyeing a move for RCD Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia.
Who is Joan Garcia?
Garcia, who came through Espanyol’s youth system, broke into the club’s first-team back in 2021 but it was last season when the young goalkeeper became a regular in the side.
The 21-year-old made 14 appearances for the club in La Liga 2 across 2023-24, conceding seven goals and keeping eight clean sheets, as well as keeping two clean sheets in three promotion play-off games (Transfermarkt).
The youngster’s performances between the sticks have allegedly caught the attention of clubs from La Liga as well as from abroad.
Spurs and Brighton both like Joan Garcia
It is revealed that both Real Madrid and Valencia are keeping an eye on Garcia but it is the two sides from the Premier League who have shown the most interest.
According to the report, Spurs and Brighton are both exploring moves to bring the goalkeeper to England, with the Seagulls and the Lilywhites potentially set for a battle for the 23-year-old’s services this summer.
Spurs currently have Guglielmo Vicario, Fraser Forster, Alfie Whiteman and Brandon Austin to choose from between the sticks at Hotspur Way.

One can understand why Tottenham might be looking for young, up-and-coming goalkeepers, with the club needing a long-term replacement for Fraser Forster, whose contract is unlikely to be renewed when it runs out next summer.
