Report: Spurs could soon receive a financial windfall from player sell-on clause

HITC have reported that Tottenham Hotspur could be set for a financial boost due to a sell-on clause they have for Jack Clarke, with Burnley and Sheffield United now circling over the winger.

Clarke struggled to make an impact at Spurs following his £10m switch from Elland Road in 2019, with the winger making just four senior appearances for the Lilywhites before departing for Sunderland

The winger has excelled since his switch to the Stadium of Light, playing a key role in the Black Cats’ promotion last season, and he has been one of the best attackers across the Championship so far this campaign.

The 26-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided two assists in 26 league appearances in the English second-tier (Transfermarkt), and he is now thought to have emerged as a target for Premier League clubs.

Clarke could be set for top-flight return

HITC now say that both Sheffield United and Burnley are plotting offers for the former Tottenham man during the current transfer window.

The outlets claim that while Sunderland value Clarke at £20m, the Clarets and the Blades believe that an offer of around £15m would be enough to clinch the deal.

If the winger does make a move for £15m this month, Spurs would be owed £4.5m as the North London club have a 30 per cent sell-on clause on the player.

Some Spurs fans will perhaps wonder if Tottenham should get involved in the race for Clarke since the Lilywhites are in need of reinforcements out wide and can sign the player for 30 per cent cheaper than other clubs.

However, it is unlikely that the 23-year-old would be too keen on a switch to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having hardly got any game time during his spell at the club.
