Report: Spurs have already spoken to 24-year-old about January transfer

The Daily Mail claim that Tottenham Hotspur have already reached out to Al-Ittihad winger Jota about a January move to Tottenham.

Last Friday, we relayed a report from The Telegraph’s Matt Law, who claimed that Ange Postecoglou was keen on adding a versatile attacker (as well as a centre-back and a number eight) to his squad in January.

The journalist suggested that Jota was the attacking player that the Lilywhites are ‘most likely’ to pursue during the current transfer window.

On Saturday, 90 min suggested that a reunion between Postecoglou and the former Celtic star is very much on the cards this month.

In fact, the report added that Tottenham are confident of striking a deal to sign the winger on an initial loan deal with an option to make it permanent next summer, with the 24-year-old alleged to be keen on making the switch to North London.

Spurs have reached out to Jota already

The Mail have now become the latest publication to talk up the chances of Spurs swooping for Jota this month.

The report asserted that the Premier League side have already spoken to the Portuguese star’s camp about a mid-season switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

A loan move with an option to buy would be risk-free and would also allow Tottenham to direct all of their funds towards sign a top-quality centre-back and a midfielder this window.

While one would expect Spurs to face plenty of competition for Jota, the Postecoglou connection should give the club an advantage over other suitors.
