Report: Spurs-linked midfielder is likely to ‘turn down’ move to the Lilywhites

Despite intense speculation linking Conor Gallagher with a move away from Chelsea, with Spurs mentioned as potential suitors, a new report suggests the midfielder would choose to stay with the Blues given the chance.

Tottenham were linked with a move for Conor Gallagher in the summer, but that didn’t come to fruition at the time. The North London club have reportedly retained an interest in the Chelsea man since, however (talkSPORT).

Last week, Gianluca Di Marzio claimed the two clubs had been discussing the possibility of striking an agreement for a £40m transfer for Gallagher. However, that idea was debunked by a report from the Evening Standard shortly after.

Since then, the updates have not been particularly positive if you’re a Spurs fan. Dean Jones told GiveMeSport that he expects the Lilywhites’ pursuit of Gallagher to be unsuccessful.

A report from London World also revealed Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has instructed the club’s board not to sell Gallagher.

Gallagher would want to stay at Chelsea

But, even if the stars aligned and Spurs were successful in finding an agreement with Chelsea for the player, it seems he would not want to make the move anyway. That’s according to the latest from the Evening Standard, who suggest Gallagher wants to stay at Chelsea.

It is said that, despite the fact Chelsea “need to sell players,” Gallagher would be hard to move on as he is “expected to turn down any move away” from his boyhood club.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have said all along that this would be a near-impossible transfer to complete. Chelsea would be foolish to sell to Spurs, the manager still wants Gallagher, and the player himself would surely not want to go to Spurs either. We should move on and find a more attainable target for that midfield role.
