Report: Spurs ready to make move for striker in top 20 PL scorers of all time

Ange Postecoglou wants to sign Romelu Lukaku for Tottenham this summer if Harry Kane is to depart his boyhood club, according to Football Transfers

Lukaku spent last season on loan at Inter Milan, but has now returned to parent club Chelsea, so Spurs would have to deal with their bitter London rivals.

It is said that Tottenham would want to sign the Belgian goalscorer on a loan deal from Chelsea if Kane secures his move to Bayern Munich in the coming weeks.

Lukaku himself wants to leave the Blues and is looking for a five-year contract on £400,000 per week at another club – which Spurs would not be willing to pay.

Postecoglou wants a short-term Kane replacement

However, the Lilywhites would offer £300,000 per week if Lukaku joined on a loan deal, without an option to make the move permanent.

Postecoglou reportedly feels that Lukaku is the right short-term profile to replace Kane without any settling-in period. Lukaku is the 20th top Premier League goalscorer of all time (Official).

Spurs Web Opinion:

The idea of a short-term loan replacement is not an awful one, seeing as the new season is so close. However, Lukaku is not the kind of player Spurs really need. I would expect Postecoglou to change things up and bring in a fast, high-press, young striker.
