Report: Todd Boehly could make Chelsea U-turn amid Spurs’ Gallagher pursuit

The Daily Mirror have claimed that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly could decide to scupper Conor Gallagher’s move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Various outlets over the last couple of weeks have claimed that Spurs are ready to pounce on Gallagher after Chelsea decided to put their academy graduate up for sale (talkSPORT).

The Blues have come for plenty of criticism for their decision to transfer the 23-year-old, with the likes of Jamie Carragher suggesting that it demonstrates the incompetence of the club’s ownership.

Potential Chelsea U-turn on Conor Gallagher

The Mirror have now backed up what we have heard from other sources by reporting that Gallagher remains at the top of Ange Posteocoglou’s midfielder wishlist.

However, they point out that the England international’s sale would be hugely unpopular among Chelsea fans and suggest that Boehly may scupper the deal in a bid to keep supporters onside.

The publication adds that if the Gallagher deal collapses, Tottenham may turn their attention to Blackburn youngster Adam Wharton or Belgium wonderkid Arthur Vermeeren.

If Tottenham are to have a chance of landing Gallagher, they need to show a lot of urgency. The longer they wait, the higher the chance that the Chelsea fans will make their voices heard to the club about the 23-year-old, forcing the West London club to call off the deal.
