According to Voetbal Belgie, Union Saint-Gilloise are keen to hold on to Tottenham target Koki Machida and will not allow the centre-back to leave for a cut-price figure in January.
Ange Postecoglou would have first come across Machida during his time in the J-League and the centre-back’s reputation has grown significantly over the last 12 months, with the 26-year-old emerging as one of the best centre-backs in the Belgian top flight.
The left-footed defender was first mooted as a target for Spurs last month, with 90 min claiming at the time that the Lilywhites were closely monitoring the player’s performances.
Union SG do not wish to sell Koki Machida to Spurs
Voetbal Belgi have now said that the Premier League side continue to show interest in Machida as they look to reinforce their backline in January.
However, with Union SG currently sitting at the summit of the Jupiler Pro League, the club have no intention of losing a key player such as the Japanese international.
As a result, it is alleged that Tottenham would thus have to pay a fee of around €10- €15m (£8.6m- £13m) to convince the Brussels-based club to part ways with Machida this month.

The fee will not be a sticking point for Tottenham with respect to Machida but all indications at the moment are that the Lilywhites have decided to prioritise a move for Radu Dragusin.
With Ben Davies demonstrating that he is more than capable of filling in for Micky van de Ven, I expect Spurs to put off signing a left-sided centre-back until next summer.
