Report: Tottenham have now decided to drop their interest in attacker

TEAMtalk claim that Tottenham Hotspur have now decided to drop their interest in Al-Ittihad winger Jota.

Over the last couple of weeks, several outlets have claimed that Ange Postecoglou is keen on adding a versatile attacker to his squad, with Jota being the name at the top of the Australian’s wishlist (The Telegraph).

This was also backed up by 90 min, who claimed last weekend that Spurs are now exploring a loan move for the Portuguese star, who was alleged to be keen on a switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

A couple of days ago, The Daily Mail went a step further and suggested that the Lilywhites had already reached out to Al-Ittihad over a deal for the 24-year-old.

Tottenham drop interest in signing Jota

TEAMtalk have now reported that the Saudi Pro League club are happy for Jota to leave in January, just six months after signing him from Celtic for £26m.

The report says that Al-Ittihad are willing to sell him for a cut-price fee and that a whole host of top sides are ready to bring the player through the door.

However, it is alleged that Spurs are not one of those sides as Ange Postecoglou’s men have dropped their interest in the winger.

Spurs Web Opinion

I suspect that Tottenham would only be interested in a loan deal for Jota. I am not sure that the Lilywhites will be too keen on paying a transfer fee for the 24-year-old as the jury is still out on whether he can perform at the Premier League level.

The winger’s wages would also be a potential stumbling block as he is reportedly earning £180,000 per week at Al-Ittihad.
